| The Rensselaer Club of New York will be hosting an evening discussion with Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame member Steve Sasson ’72, ’73G, inventor of the digital camera. Born in Brooklyn, a young Steve Sasson designed and built radio receivers, stereo amplifiers and transmitters in his parents’ basement. After graduating from RPI with a BS and MS in electrical engineering, Steve joined Eastman Kodak Company and began working on digital imaging projects. In 1989, Steve led the development of the first mega-pixel electronic digital camera using DCT compression and storage of images on flash memory. Hear more about Steve’s experiences and inventions at our discussion, which is scheduled for September 20, 2012, at The Cornell Club, 6 East 44th Street, New York, NY 10017. The cost is $10 for dues paying alumni, and $15 for all others. There will also be a reception before the talk with hors d'oeurves and cash bar. |
