50 Year Club

The 50 Year Club

A service organization whose primary mission is to serve and support Rensselaer, its alumni, and its students.

Upon the 50th anniversary of an alumnus/a’s graduation, he/she becomes a member of the 50 Year Club.

50 Year Club Projects

An example of the Club’s involvement is the annual Student Community Activity Award, given to members of the Red and White student organization. The 50 Year Club also joins with the Office of the First-Year Experience to sponsor a reception for incoming transfer students. We also participate with other alumni at the Welcome Barbecue for each incoming freshman class as part of the Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond program for new students.

We are always looking for ways to foster programs for older alums across the country. For example, in Troy there is an active Retirees’ Club that meets to go on plant tours and have lunch. We welcome the opportunity to work with other regions to organize similar groups. For information, or if you have other ideas for the 50 Year Club, send your ideas to alumni@rpi.edu.

50 Year Club Dues

All alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more are automatically members of the 50 Year Club. To become a donor member and support the activities of the club requires a one-time dues payment of $50. Dues support the projects of the Club. Send your payment to Treasurer Bill Blanchfield ’60, 2610 Sunset Avenue, Utica NY 13502-6009. You may contact him at bblanchfield@hsettlement.com if you have questions.

Reunion & Homecoming Weekend

All members of the 50 Year Club are encouraged to return for the festivities, especially for the induction of the newest members of the Club. A special invitation is extended to those members of 50 Year Club who are in Reunion-year classes. Visit the Reunion and Homecoming pages for more details.

50 Year Club Board of Directors

Board of Directors meetings are held on or near campus. For logistical reasons, most Board members reside in or near Troy. Contact the Board at alumni@rpi.edu or (518) 276-6205.
