Office of Alumni Engagement

Network with alumni for career advice, finding internships, and help navigating your new city.

Throughout your time on campus, you will have opportunities to interact with alumni through programs and student organizations sponsored by the Office of Alumni Engagement. There are more than 100,000 alumni worldwide, in an amazing variety of fields. They will help you:

  • Find an internship
  • Secure a co-op
  • Give you career advice
  • Help you land a job after you graduate
  • Guide you as you adjust to life in a new city

Red & White Student Organization (Become a Facebook Fan)

You must apply to join the Red & White Student Organization. As a member of this popular and professional group, you will network with alumni, develop leadership and communication skills, build career contacts, and participate in university, presidential, and alumni events. Members also help to promote the traditions of Rensselaer, guide seniors through the transition from students to alumni, and instill a sense of pride in the Institute. The Red & White Student Organization sponsors several programs that allow you to interact with alumni:

A series of programs throughout your senior year that will guide you through the transition from student to alumni. The series gives you the tools you’ll need to grow personally and professionally. For more information and a list of programs, click here.


The Traditions Program instills a sense of pride in Rensselaer, and teaches students about current and historical traditions at the Institute. Find more information about the Traditions program.


Come prepare for your tests at the Heffner Alumni House during Rensselaer-designated study days.

Career-Related Inquires

We encourage students to work through the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) to connect with companies about the potential for employment. However, if you are struggling to find information about specific companies or interest fields, we may be able to help connect you with alumni who can help. If you’d like to be connected with an alumnus/a to ask specific questions, contact Alumni Engagement at alumni@rpi.edu.

Alumni Website

Login to the alumni website and connect with alumni by searching the directory, joining the Facebook page, and connecting on social media to stay up-to-date on alumni events and services. Click on "create your account" use your RIN to create your account.


Nearly 19,000 alumni are connected with each other on this professional networking site. You are also encouraged to join.

Student Group Support

The Alumni Office works with many Greek and student organizations to bring students and alumni together. Contact alumni@rpi.edu to find out how to connect your campus group with its alumni.

Seniors: Watch for Rensselaer, the Alumni Magazine

As soon-to-be alumni, you'll start receiving the alumni magazine in your senior year. The magazine will keep you up-to-date on campus and alumni news, and allow you to stay connected with classmates via the “Class Notes” section.
