The Office of Alumni Relations understands the value of connecting Rensselaer students with alumni for jobs, co-ops, history, and perspective on their alma mater. Throughout your time on campus, you will have opportunities to interact with alumni though many of the student organizations you belong to.

There are close to 90,000 alumni worldwide, in an amazing variety of fields. They will help you:

  • Find an internship
  • Secure a co-op
  • Give you career advice
  • Help you land a job after you graduate
  • Guide you as you adjust to life in a new city

Red & White Student Organization   (Become a Fan )
Students are welcome to apply to become part of the Red & White Student Organization. As a member of this popular and professional group, you will have the opportunity to network with alumni, develop leadership and communication skills, build career contacts, and participate in university, presidential, and alumni events. Members also help to promote the traditions of Rensselaer, guide seniors through the transition from students to alumni, and instill a sense of pride in the Institute. For more information on how to become a member of the Red & White Student Organization, visit our website at http://redandwhite.alumni.rpi.edu.

The Red & White Student Organization sponsors several programs that allow you to interact with alumni:

A series of programs throughout your senior year that will guide you through the transition from student to alumni. The series gives you the tools you’ll need to grow personally and professionally. For more information and a list of programs, click here.

The Red & White Student Organization, in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Relations, started the Traditions Program to instill a sense of pride at Rensselaer. Traditions teaches students about the many current and historical traditions of RPI. For more information about the Traditions program, click here.

The Red & White Student Organization sponsors a program during the Rensselaer designated study days.  For more information on the Study Days @ the Heffner Alumni House program, click here

Career-Related Inquires
Many students are interested in pursuing specific career fields. We encourage all students to work through the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) to connect with companies about the potential for employment. However, if you are struggling to find information about specific companies or interest fields, we may be able to help connect you with alumni who can help. If you’d like to be connected with an alumnus/a to ask specific questions, contact Geoff Seber to set up an appointment at seberg@rpi.edu.

Regional Alumni E-mail Newsletters
All students receive regional alumni e-mail newsletters from the hometown location indicated on our database. Students are encouraged and welcome to attend any regional alumni activities in their hometown, or any location of interest. Regional events are a great way to network with alumni.

Alumni Website
Students may login to the alumni website and connect with alumni by searching the directory, joining the Facebook page, and connecting with RPIAlum Twitter account to stay up-to-date on alumni events around the country. Click on "create your account" at the top of this page and use your RIN to register for the site.

Nearly 10,000 alumni are already connected with each other on this professional networking site. Students are also encouraged to join.

Student Group Support
The Alumni Office works with many Greek and student organizations to bring students and alumni together. Contact Geoff Seber at seberg@rpi.edu to find out how to connect your campus group with its alumni.

Seniors: Watch for Rensselaer, the Alumni Magazine
As soon-to-be alumni, you'll start receiving the alumni magazine in your senior year. The magazine will keep you up-to-date on important campus and alumni news, and allow you to stay connected with classmates via the “Class Notes” section.
