Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) Board
The RAA Board of Trustees consists of approximately 30 caring and involved student and alumni members who represent alumni interests to the Institute. Other than some designated positions, the trustees-at-large are elected by fellow alumni.
The RAA board works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations in developing and implementing programs that are of interest and value to RPI alumni, including networking, social, educational, and student-centered activities.
The Board meets in Troy three times per year and convenes by teleconference or e-mail between meetings.
The Nominations Committee opens nominations from October to February for the upcoming RAA Board of Trustee year. Nominate yourself or fellow alumnus/ae.
Typical terms last from 1-3 years. Each elected trustee-at-large is expected to attend all campus board meetings. A special travel fund is available for board members who cannot cover all travel costs.

The RAA represents a diverse group of alumni from across the country and the world. The RAA Board has dramatically demonstrated its leadership and significance as an organization dedicated to the Institute’s future – with financial support of important campus projects, a concern for and dedication to today’s students and campus life, and a commitment to improving and adding value to the alumni network. The strength of the organization has been built on the shoulders of effective leaders and committed volunteers. They are the “voice” of Rensselaer’s nearly 100,000 alumni worldwide.

The Rensselaer Alumni Association Credit Card Agreement with US Bank
The Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) currently has one affinity card relationship, with US Bank. Under the terms of the agreement, US Bank’s payments to the RAA are tied to use of the card. The RAA uses the proceeds from the affinity card program to support alumni activities. In exchange, the RAA gives permission to US Bank to inform alumni association members periodically of the existence of the relationship.
- Under the agreement, the RAA obligates US Bank to agree to certain measures. These include:
- Respect for privacy—strict parameters regarding the promotion of product offerings through the RAA program;
- Not allowing information to be used for any other purpose outside of the RAA’s specific program; and
- Offering an opt-out process for those members of our community who do not wish to receive marketing solicitations.
- The prohibition of marketing this product to current students of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act of 2009 requires colleges and universities to make their affinity card agreements available to the public upon request.
